Short version: analytics only runs if you say yes, there's no email list and nothing about you is sold. Here's exactly what happens when you visit, book a call or email me.

Who I am

Gareth Wray, a sole trader trading as Gareth Wray (G.), Ipswich, Suffolk. I'm the controller for personal data collected through this website. Contact: hello@garethrswray.com.

What I collect

  • Booking a call: your name, email and anything you add to the booking form. Bookings are handled by Cal.com and land in my Google calendar and inbox.
  • Emails you send me: whatever you choose to include, including search check results if you choose to send them.
  • Visiting the site, if you accept analytics cookies: pages viewed, how you arrived (for example a Google search or a link), rough location (town or region), device and browser, and clicks on the booking and email links. This comes through Google Analytics and doesn't identify you by name. If you reject, none of this is collected.
  • Paying me: payments go through Stripe. Stripe collects your name, email, billing address, any business tax ID you add and your card details. I see your name, email, address and the payment, but never your full card number.
  • The search check and templates: nothing. The search check runs in your browser and your answers aren't sent or stored. The templates open straight away with no form.

Why, and the lawful basis

  • To arrange and hold the call you booked, and reply to you (steps you asked for before a contract, or legitimate interests in replying to an enquiry).
  • To deliver work if you become a client (contract).
  • To keep basic records for tax and accounts (legal obligation).
  • To understand which pages help people and improve the site (your consent, through the cookie banner; you can withdraw it any time).

I don't add you to a mailing list. If I ever start one, it will be opt-in, with its own sign-up and an unsubscribe link in every email.

How long I keep it

Enquiries and bookings that don't become work: 12 months. Client records: six years after we stop working together, for tax. Google Analytics data: 14 months, then deleted automatically.

Who else sees it

  • Cal.com: booking.
  • Stripe: card payments, subscriptions, invoices and the billing page where clients manage their plan. Stripe also uses payment data to prevent fraud, under its own privacy policy.
  • HubSpot: when you book, your name and email are added to my CRM so I can keep track of the conversation.
  • Google (Google Workspace): email and calendar.
  • Google Analytics: site statistics, only if you accept cookies.
  • Cloudflare: hosts the site; standard server logs (such as IP address and browser) kept briefly for security.
  • My accountant and accounting software, for client records.

I don't sell or share data for marketing. Some of these providers may store data outside the UK under recognised safeguards.

Cookies

The only optional cookies are from Google Analytics, and they're set only if you click Accept on the cookie banner. They're called _ga and _ga_E7L8QD4J5W, they last up to two years, and they let Google count return visits without knowing who you are. There are no advertising cookies, and analytics data isn't shared with Google for advertising.

Change your mind any time with the cookie settings link in the footer. Rejecting removes the analytics cookies.

Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage, not a cookie. Fonts and videos are served from this site, not third parties. The Cal.com booking calendar, where it appears, may set its own cookies needed to make a booking.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how it's used. Email me and I'll reply within a month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
